Rainy Day Hair Tips from Nick Stenson, of The Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney

Last week, after my “Innovative Products Created by Women for Women” segment on PIX11 I had to pleasure of getting an exclusive, one-on-one, behind the scenes look at the making of the Fall/Winter 2016 hairstyle trend book, which will be available for customers at The Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney, starting in July.

Nick Stenson, JCPenney Salon’s Artistic Director, styled the five-day shoot, and was kind enough to not only walk me around and share upcoming hairstyle trends, but even vamp me up for an impromptu photo shoot. TV gals LOVE cameras!

The best part about these trend books it that they are very similar to the ones you’d see at upscale beauty salons, but the cost of getting your hair done at The Salon by InStyle inside JCPenney starts at just $25. Since good hair is almost as good as great sex – almost!! – a visit to this salon is a perfect idea for your next Meaningful Me Moments outing.

Speaking of outings, if you’re about to head out, like me, on this slushy, sun-less day, Nick was kind enough to share some Rainy Day Hair Tips that will keep your coiffé well coiffed.

Nick says, “A rainy day is anything but ideal, but it hardly calls for a bad hair day. Just make sure you have the right hair products.” I couldn’t agree more. #AlwaysBeYourBestYou

Nick Stenson, JCPenney Salon’s Artistic Director recommends:

Fight frizz with the Smooth Sexy Hair Frizz Eliminator Smooth & Sleek Serum. “It’s long-lasting, lightweight on your hair and provides a shield against the humidity.”

“If you decide to go with heat styling despite the weather, I highly recommend using the Matrix Biolage Keratin Does Renewal Spray beforehand. It protects against heat damage while taming frizz and flyaways.”

“Always have a hair tie handy if you have to resort to a ponytail or topknot. You can never be too prepared,” says Nick. (FYI I’m a huge fan of invisibobble  – currently rocking their new POWER invisibobble which is great for extra strong grip, much appreciated by a gal who has thick, Jew-fro hair)

Sidebar about my obsession with invisibobble: this aint your  mama’s hair tie! The clever, smooth-surface design helps you causes no split ends. Plus it doesn’t cause headaches, has a strong grip and is anti-allergic. Clear is my favorite color because it’s trace less, but I sometimes have fun with the pink, as well.  It’s a rainy-day hairdo do.rainyday_invisibobble

Check back next week when Nick shares stress-free hairstyles for spring.
