Aleavia Prebiotic Skincare, Kelly Graham – Mompreneur Monday Shout Out

If you’ve struggled to solve a mystery skincare conidiation, or inflammatory response your child is having to who-knows-what, you’ll want to read this week’s Mompreneur Monday Shout Out.
Mompreneur Kelly Graham began Aleavia, a prebiotic plant-based skincare line, when she was searching for a solution to her daughter’s persistent eczema. It was then, over six years ago, that Kelly learned the body’s natural ability to protect itself is stripped away with persistent use of harsh, chemical products.
Mompreneur Monday Shout Out
Find out how this hustling mama launched a prebiotic wellness brand before it was a trend, and how it not only cleared her daughter’s eczema up, but became her mission to educate others on the power of plant-based skincare.
How old are your kids? My girls are 16 and 13
When did you launch your business? Aleavia launched 5 1/2 years ago. We are an exclusive prebiotic skincare company that specializes in feeding the beneficial skin microbiome with plant-based superfood ingredients that change the life of your skin
What motivates you to hustle for your business, when mom life seems to be swallowing you whole? I always remind myself why I started Aleavia. As a mom, I wanted cleaner products for our family that work. All moms want that! The thousands of testimonies that come to me about how Aleavia has changed someone’s life, that is something worth hustling for!
What’s your biggest challenge right now? The balance game. As our company is experiencing growing pains, I could work endlessly. And as moms, we are pulled in so many directions, and having it together all the time, just doesn’t happen!
How do you manage your days, your time? For me, it’s staying on a routine. I get up early (most mornings by 5am), look over my plans for the day and see if changes need to be made. I pray/meditate and exercise almost 7 days a week, then start my day. I am constantly writing notes in my phone, so I remember things and if I need to go back and review something, it’s all right there. I also write a lot of my content pieces in my notes folder, so they are saved and if I need to send them to someone on my team, it’s always handy.
What do you like to do to unwind and self-care? Because I have dealt with chronic pain for many years, I am very good about self-care. I could lecture for days to moms on how important this is in maintaining sanity. I see a chiropractor weekly; I do acupuncture and cupping once a month; I also get a deep tissue massage once a month. It is an expense that I feel is well worth it because health is wealth!
What or who inspires you to keep pushing your business forward? Professionals and everyday people that are moving the needle forward about the gut/skin microbiome connection. How we take care of one, effects the other. And, of course, my family inspires me to keep pushing. Showing my girls that hard work and doing something you are passionate about, is the key to long term happiness.
What has been your biggest “aha” moment this year? Stop and embrace your journey! We are always looking forward at what we think is the next best thing and we forget to celebrate how far we have come.
What do you wish to bring to fruition this year? Always to bring more awareness to the toxins and chemicals we are bombarding our largest organ with – i.e. our skin – on a daily basis. What we feed our skin matters!
What does it mean to you to Hustle Like a Mom? I have learned that my girls watching me hustle is a good thing. They know you can do anything you set your mind to, but you have to be willing to put in the hard work! Failure is okay. It builds character in the heart and mind to be even better than you were before!
