Red Carpet Ready Beauty: FRIDAY 5 FINDS

Hey Mamas,

I’m coming at you with Red Carpet ready goodies in this week’s Friday Five Finds including how to get fuller lashes, glowing skin, even a sweat absorbing garment shield.

So, whether you’re going on a date with the hubby, planning a fun dress-up Oscars viewing party at home, or simply thinking ahead to wedding season, you’ll want to check out my Pam-tested picks.

Red Carpet Ready Beauty Finds by Pamela Pekerman

Red Carpet Ready Lashes

Go big or go home with Grande Cosmetics Mascara, formulated to boost lash volume. Plus, it’s waterproof. So, enjoy that Kleenex moment while Emma Stone accepts her win for Best Actress in La La Land.

PS Use this in the morning when you’re running off to daycare and have no time for any other makeup … or even a shower. It’s an instant fake-awake that will certainly distract from the fact that you might be wearing the same shirt you picked the kids up in, the previous night. #ItHasntHappenedYet #ItCouldHappen

Red Carpet Ready Dress No Mess

I’m a sweater. Wearing long sleeve dresses, has always been a problem. When I was little my mom would cut up some special fabric and sow oval shields under my armpit area, which would absorb my sweat.

These days, I use Hollywood Fashion Garment Shields, disposable apparel shields. I have no shame in my sweat-free game. #KeepingItHonest

Red Carpet Ready Skin

I’ve been testing a lot of masks, lately and I love The True Tincture Chamomile Mask from belif. Belif which stands for “believe in truth” is a cleaner-greener brand that’s becoming a staple in my beauty repertoire.
This tincture mask is loaded with real, organic chamomile flowers that will sooth and deeply hydrate your already glorious face. #EcoMama

Red Carpet Ready Glow

Never have I been so in love with a bronzer, as I am with Vita Liberata Trystal Minerals Self-Tanning Bronzing Minerals. I’m not sure about the “self-tanning” part, and the claim to long lasting glow with prolonged use.

But, I can 10000% confirm my skin has never looked better, than when I apply this miraculous bronzing dust of goodness. #GoldenGoddessAlert

Red Carpet Ready Body

I promise to stop selecting finds from This Works, when This Works stops working!

If you’re looking to cover up skin imperfections and walk your Red Carpet with head-to-toe confidence, lather on Perfect Legs Skin Miracle. It helps diminish the appearance of skin discoloration and scars. #SexyLegsContest

Get Red Carpet Ready at Home, Pam’s Picks BELLA New York Magazine

Happy 2016!

I hope you had an amazing holiday season and are revved-up for 2016. I am!!

If you’ve been following my Instargarm posts you’ll note my push to get greener and cleaner, but in a manageable I-live-in-the-real-world-can’t-avoid-all-the-bad-stuff way. You know what I mean.

So, it only makes sense the the January/February installment of Pam’s Picks in BELLA New York Magazine focuses on smart products and tips that will help you get ed carpet ready at home in a healthy, time-saving manner. I even enlisted one of my favorite Green Gurus to share DIY beauty recipes, you won’t want to miss.

Lance Bass BELLA NY January 2016

Run out to your local Barnes & Noble and grab a copy of the latest issue, featuring our wonderful cover model Lance Bass. Then, once the kids or pets are tucked in, make a massive cup of tea (current obsession: TEAVANA’s Maharaja Chai Oolong Tea – perfect cure for the blistering weather).

Too cold to go out, today? HELLO 15 degrees!!

I’ve naturally posted all the scoop below. But, do get your issue so you can see how #teamBELLA is shaking things up in 2016 and helping you stay fierce, fabulous and focused on always being your best. Beauty Defined By You, that’s the BELLA babe way. Pam's Picks Red Carpet Ready

Pam’s Picks: Get Red Carpet Ready at Home

There’s nothing more frustrating than knowing a big soiree is on your calendar, and not having the time or resources to properly prepare. Fear not fabulous ladies and gents! I’ve found the ideal, time-saving ways to glam-up from head to toe, so you can always be your best you. Chin-chin.

Get Fit Forget about lifting weights and crunching away. Recently I’ve been won over by the fluid (pardon the pun) moves and easy-to-follow videos that come with the Fluidity Barre. Ballerinas like Misty Copeland and the late Maya Plisetskaya achieved healthy, toned bodies, and now you can get that same look without leaving the house. This fitness tool is a game changer for anyone with back issues that’s still looking for a way to achieve a flawless body. The focus is on using your own body weight in multiple directions to sculpt gracefully. And, since we don’t all have a separate exercise room, I love that the unit folds down to five inches and stores under my bed. $494

Get Glowing The best accessory for a stellar night out is glowing skin. Green beauty guru, author of the New York Times best-seller Gorgeously Green, and my new BFF Sophie Uliano shares her top DIY recipes for red-carpet-worthy skin. For more recipes, check out Uliano’s latest book Gorgeous For Good, or visit SophieUliano.com.

Gorgeous Glow Mask “This mask will gently remove impurities and allow your natural glow to shine,” says Uliano.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Bentonite or French Green Clay
  • 1 tbsp green tea (brew tea bag in hot water for 10 minutes)
  • 1tsp activated Charcoal (find capsules at health food store)
  • 2 tsp coconut oil (heat until liquid form is reached)
  • 1 tsp Aloe Vera gel
  • 5 drops tea tree oil
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

Mix all ingredients into a thick paste. Apply to your face with a brush (a cosmetic fan brush is best). Leave for 20 minutes. Rinse off thoroughly with warm water. Moisturize as usual.

Get Styled No time to shop for your big night out? Check out TrunkClub.com. This is not a stylist-in-a-box service like so many on the market. Here, they actually gave me a real stylist–hi, Megan! We emailed, chatted on the phone, and even bonded over our love of rosé wine. Most importantly, Megan was able to nail down my needs for a major celebrity event BELLA is hosting in Los Angeles. Oh, and she got the hubby styled up as well! Yes, ladies, Trunk Club not only caters to women, men were actually the original customers. Tip: Look into their custom suits for guys. Overall, expect great service, no monthly fees, no commitments, and no shipping costs. Make an appointment at their NY Clubhouse, 457 Madison Avenue, 646-780-5310.

Always Be Your Best You Pamela Pekerman Signature

Pam’s Picks: Camera Ready Essentials, BELLA NYC Magazine

Sunday’s Golden Globes officially kicked off the 2015 Red Carpet season. Being a lover of glamour, I live for this time of year, because it embodies Always Be Your Best You. Now, if you’re thinking, “Pam, this is beyond anything I can ever accomplish,” I say “think again”.

In the January/February issue of BELLA NYC and BELLA Long Island, I share beauty and fashion finds that make you feel like you have your very own glam squad. If you only invest in two items from this list Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray and SPANX Skinny Britches Short should be it. I use the spray and the shorts every single day to ensure my makeup stays flawless and my post-prggers tummy stays in place.

PS What do you think of our gorgeous cover model Olivia Munn? She’s a true BELLA babe – beauty, brains and sass. If you’re picky with what you watch, like me, you will not regret investing your precious free time into watching her and the rest of the amazing cast of The Newsroom. Every single word on this show must be heard, and not a single gesture is to be missed.

Cate Blanchett’s Chopard Earrings 2014 Oscars

Cate Blanchett’s Chopard earrings took my breath away. Hands down, this was the best jewelry moment of the entire awards season!

The 18kt white gold earrings are from Chopard’s 2014 Red Carpet Collection. There are 62 opals (that’s 22.03ct !) and 1595 diamonds (1.73ct). If you are in the market for new earrings feel free to call 1-800-CHOPARD. As my friends as Chopard so kindly told me, the price is available upon request. My response what, “do I dare request”. Hmmm?!!

Best Red Carpet Dresses at 86th Annual Academy Awards

I broke the no TV rule, last night and let Ilana stay in the living room while mommy enjoyed +E! Entertainment Red Carpet Special from the 86th Annual Academy Awards. She enjoyed her first Red Carpet viewing, but I think Ilana liked cuddling with daddy even more.

After much debate, here are my top five, best dressed of the night. Do you agree?

Best Dressed Ladies at 2014 Oscars

Kate Hudson in Versace Atelier, 2014 Oscars

The sequence cape or whatever that was, was everything. I love when presenters steal the show!

Portia de Rossi in Naeem Khan, 2014 Oscars
I want to buy this Naeem Khan gown in white, coral, black, radiant orchid… The fit of the halter dress, the ivory color against Portia de Rossi’s milky skin, the honeycomb-beading, the ideal train length, the gorgeous back, it was all perfection. The accessories, her +Fendi clutch and +Christian Dior jewelry completed the mesmerizing style moment.
Lupita Nyong’o in Prada, 2014 Oscars

I Last night’s princess story belonged to 12 Years A Slave star, and Best Supporting Actress winner, Lupita Nyong’o. Her ethereal, powder-blue +Prada gown was an ideal choice for her skin tone and delicate frame. I loved the flecks of sheen in the pleated skirt. And, of course, nobody can stop talking about her simple, graceful Fred Leighton diamond-and-gold headband. Actually, I guess diamonds aren’t simple :).

PamsPicks_030314__1.png
Sandra Bullock in Alexander McQueen, 2014 Oscars

Although I’m deeply again the promoting Alexander McQeen, for personal reasons, I can’t deny that Sandra Bullock looked regal and Oscar-worthy in this satin gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and dramatic draping. The minimal, but effective, use of Lorrain Schwartz jewels pulled it all together.

PamsPicks_030314__8.png
Jenna Dewan-Tatum in Reem Acra, 2014 Oscars

A big trend of the night was sequence on sheen, but it ended up washing out many of the leading ladies much like the rain outside the Dolby Theater.  Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s Reem Acra gown was the excpetion. The greyish hue worked with her dark hair, and I love how the beading blended into the feather-like mermaid skirt. Can I get married again, in this dress? +Reem Acra, my five year anniversary is coming up in August. Let’s talk.

Honorary mention goes to:

PamsPicks_030314__5.png
Bette Midler in Reem Acra, 2014 Oscars

Nobody does it for me quite like The Divine Ms M. I’ve loved her since I was a little girl and I’m so happy she brought it, last night, in this fiesty, crimson Reem Acra gown which recenlty graced the runways at Mercedes-Benz Fall 2014 Fashion Week in New York. I love that I want to wear this dress, but I’d also want to see it on my mother.  Trend alert: Ms. M was also rocking the short hair, pulled back in waves style that seems to be ageless when done right.

PamsPicks_030314__2.png
Christine Teigen in Monique Lhuillier,  2014 Oscars
Christine Teigen looked wonderful in +Monique Lhuillier, but it was her joyful presnce that won me over. Trend alert — florals of all kinds are huge this spring. Get ready to jump into the garden of fashionable delight.
PamsPicks_030314__4
Olivia Wilde in Valentino, 2014 Oscars

Olivia Wilde had my favorite belly bump style moment, last night. The back of her Valentino dress was so simple, yet a great lasting visual for everyone she passed. I would have placed her on my best dressed list were it not for some technical issues and poor tailoring around the chest. I’m sure nobody noticed this, but I’m on my second pregnancy and I know what it’s like when that area isn’t properly addressed.

Best Dressed at 65th Primetime Emmy Awards 2013

In between feeding Ilana cereal (which has been very thrilling and neater than expected!) and her evening milk, I was able to watch and tweet through most of the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards Red Carpet arrivals. Here are my top 5 looks of the night. Do you agree?

Michelle Dockery’s two-tone Prada gown in red satin and burgundy silk brought down the house. The look was completed with a red clutch from Prada and Fred Leighton jewels. It was great from the front and bow-tastic back. Careful, ladies, the British are coming, and they are stealing your style spotlight.
P2 Fashion – Michelle Dockery, Prada

Kaley Cuoco looked lovely in a sheer bodice with boning gown from Vera Wang in burgundy, the color of the night. The tulle skirt accented by organza scalloping created that drama I look for in my stars.

Kate Mara’s white J.Mendel dress is straight from the spring 2014 runway. It has a cool factor that only an it girl like Kate can pull off. On the runway, the model wore the dress with a bolder, coral lip, which I think works better than Kate’s pale pout. Also, I would prefer to see this dress with a pump versus an ankle strap which visually makes the wearer (unless she’s a 6-foot-tall model) look shtumpy.
P2 Fashion – Kaley Cuoco, Vera Wang; Kate Mara, J. Mendel
Anna Gunn wowed in a black lace, asymmetrical bodice with soft pink bottom from Romona Keveza. Her huge Irene Neuwirth 18k Rose Gold earnings set with lightening ridge opals, pink opals and diamonds were a perfect choice for this elegant dress.
Sophia Verga in ravishing red lace – fabric of choice at the Emmys – from Vera Wang has to be on this list because more than anyone else, she conjures up old-school Hollywood glamour like nobody else in the TV world. Those curves, that attitude and those accessories! Naturally, I’m referring to her ruby, sapphire and emerald earrings from Lorraine Schwartz. They deserve their own zip code
