6 Unique Father’s Day Gifts – #PamsPicks

Hey Mamas,

I guess it’s time to think about papas, since we’re just one week away from Father’s Day.

Sure, you can get him a shaving kit, golf clubs, maybe a robe. But, why not get him something super fun, out-of-the-box, and show him that he’s awesome?

Sugarfina The Vine Collection – Okay, this gift almost didn’t make it to photograph because I kept eating it! That’s why one box had to be fully closed – not much inside. For the chocolate lover who’s tried it all, The Vice Collection is the Bees Knees.

Dad will enjoy decadent treats of chocolate, booze, even bacon flavors – didn’t try that last flavor, but I’m sure anyone who does eat pig will pork themselves all over it. #WasThatEvenFunny

Bonobos + Rockets of Awesome Swimwear – Who says mommy should have all the style matching fun with the munchkins? My currently favorite kids clothing brand, Rockets of Awesome, teamed up with Bonobos to create matching swimwear for dad and the kids.

Spoiler alert: I picked up a pair for my husband, father-in-law and daughter.

Alas, they didn’t have any left in size 2/3 for my son. If Bonobos is reading this, can you check any “hidden” inventory? I’d love to get trunks for my little man. #WeLikeToMatch

Unique Father’s Day Gifts, for the New Dad

Papa Bear Box – Being a new parent is daunting, especially if you’re a dad. Nobody really takes the time to think about what you’re going through.

Now, thanks to Papa Bear Box, you can get a new dad a delivery every 4-6 weeks full of snacks to help him stay awake at night, baby products that are papa bears approved, and items to remind him he isn’t alone in the woods. #SupportDadsUnique Fathers Day Gifts Papa Bear box

Unique Father’s Day Gifts, for the Sentimental Dad

Framebridge – If you’re dad has a favorite photo, postcard, concert tickets, football jersey, whatever, chances are he hasn’t taken the time to properly preserve it. Do it for him, with Framebridge, the simplest way to custom frame what he loves.

Deadline for mail-in framings has passed (that’s on me – meant to post this all last week!) but you can always show dad an it’s-coming-soon photo of his gift. Also, upload deadline for basic photo framing is today. Get on it. Prices range from $39-$159.

PS I’m giving myself a Father’s Day present by framing the tie my dad wore to my wedding. It was a magical day in many ways. It was a brief moment of good health for him (I’m sure the big guy upstairs helped) and it was the last time we got to dance together. I’m so grateful to the customer service team at Framebridge for reassuring me that they would take excellent care of the tie, because I was quite hesitant to even mail it in. #FramedWithLove

Josh Cellars – I’ve been a fan of this brand for years – great taste, no fuss, and fantastic prices. But, as of last week, when I got to meet founder Joseph Carr and learn about his love for his father (Josh was his father’s name) I’m even more committed to toasting my amazing husband, father-in-law, and late father, with this delightful brand.

For Father’s Day, Josh Cellars is letting you personalize a label. Simply log onto JoshCellars.com for the label maker. You can include text and a photo, if desired.

Oh, and you can even choose to have your message uploaded to a Times Square Billboard.  Josh Cellars will email a photo of the label when it is live on the billboard to share with dad, for the ultimate fatherly love proclamation!

Expedited shipping will be offered through June 13th, so get on it. Sorry, again, I totally meant to have this blog post up last week … but I was doing too much mommying and too much Rose-ing after 9pm. #KeepingItReallyRose

Hammacher’s The World’s Greatest Dad Personalized Map Puzzle – I saw this and thought of my brother-in-law. He likes to tinker, loves puzzles and a great challenge.

Any dad who loves quiet time or wants a bonding activity with the kids, will enjoy this special puzzle. #PiecesofLove

Last Minute Mothers Day Gift Ideas Pamela Pekerman

5 Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas to Buy or DIY

Hey Mamas,

Our big day is almost here, which means our own mama’s big day is also almost here.

If you’re still thinking about what to gift the most important women (hello sis, mom, grandma, auntie) in your lives, here are five ideas that you can still buy/make in time for Sunday.

Five Last Minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Glam Her Up

Glamsquad – Mama doesn’t always have time to get to the salon, so gift her a salon that comes to her door. I’ve been a loyal fan of Glamsquad ever since they launched, back in 2014, in NYC. Since then, they have expanded to Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.

Let mom sit back and relax as the Glamsquad team (FYI trained so well, I’ve never been disappointed by a stylist!!) does her hair, makeup and/or nails. Get her a gift card today and a promo code will arrive via email, which she can use on the Glamsquad app or phone.  Check out the site for Mother’s Day promos including 20% off 5 Blowouts, good though the end of August (getting mom through her busy summer social calendar in VIP style).

Tea Time in Style

Villeroy & Boch New Wave Caffeon at Gilt.com –  Obsessed with tea? Obsessed with beautiful mugs? Obsessed with all that and a great deal? Pick up this gorgeous collection, currently on sale at Gilt.com for $69 (normally $159). This set is part of my Pam’s Picks What Mom’s Really Want curation for Gilt.com.

Buy it today via expedited shipping and you’ll get the products in time to gift mom some elegant Meaning Me Moments.

If you live in NYC, check out Pam’s Picks on GiltCity.com, where you can gift mom a unique experience like a semi-private tour of Guggenheim Museum.

Rose All Day

Wildfox Mama Needs Rosé Long Sleeve PulloverYou know what I always say, “You can’t have a bad day, if you end with Rosé.” Now mama can proclaim her love for Rosé in a comfy, yet stylish shirt.

Spoiler alter for my sister: you’re getting one. Best part: I have a matching one, already! Side bar: my sister hates when we match. I love it! #SistersRule

Choose Next Business Day (if shopping today) or Saturday Delivery, at checkout.

Picture Day

When was the last time you printed out a photo? Head on over to CVS, or your desired pharmacy, and print out some pictures of you, mom and the kids. It’s a simple gesture, that’s beyond retro, these days.

Bonus points if you actually put the photo into a cute picture frame you’ve scored at HomeGoods or any store that’s near your home.

PS That’s me and my mom (@AskMalvina), last week, on a pre-Mother’s Day trip to Miami.

DIY Scrub

No time to hit the stores and no extra cash for expedited online shipping? Make mom a nice sugar scrub. Yup, even if you’re in your 30s, your mama will still appreciate that extra personal effort. I know I would like that from my kids, at any age.

Wellness Mama, my new guilty pleasure, has some simple Sugar Scrub recipes, that take no time to make. You’ll final all the ingredient are already in your kitchen cabinet.

Simple go to the dollar store and find a cute jar, natural ribbon and maybe a chalkboard or other pretty label. DIY and done.

What Does Mom Really Want for Mothers Day? Mother’s Day Gift Guide – Sleep, Sanity, feeling Sexy on NBC6 Miami in the Mix

Working hard … hardly working?

Quando estoy en Miami, trabajar es un placer. (ya I speak a little Spanish.) If I made errors, sorry. No tengo una persona con quien hablar, tambien no estudio Espanol despues de diez y ocho anos.)

Back to our English program.

So, I was in Miami, last week, taping  my version of the perfect Mother’s Day Gift Guide. The segment, which airs today at 11:30am on NBC6 Miami in the Mix, spotlights my three Mother’s Day desires – Sleep, Sanity and Sex. Now, before you get your Brazilian thongs in a tizzy, I didn’t actually go on a day-time show watched by moms and their toddlers, and say “sex”. My mother is a Children’s Manners and Social Skills Coach, after all – shameless plug for Ask Malvina! The phrase I used was “feeling sexy”, something many women don’t think about, at least not enough, once they enter mommy land.

Here’s a run down of what was featured.

Feeling SEXY – This is about feeling good, taking care of yourself, and having that sizzling twinkle in your eye. (Alas, nipple tassels were not allowed in my PG13 segment)

Mothers Day Gift Guide - sexy

  • Ambrielle intimates exclusively at JCPenney ($10-$38) – Sexy, yet sensual, and a great price point, this is the prrr-fect gift idea for the man in your life to show that he still views you as his sexy kitten.
  • NEOVA DNA Damage Control SILC SHEER SPF 40($45) – My mom always said I should take care of my skin. Now I can give her a gift that will boost up our sun-safe and skin-care-loving game. This product is triple beauty threat, providing broad-spectrum sun protection, a photo finish sheer tint that evens out the skin (hello Mother’s Day  photos) and it repairs damage caused by previous sun exposure. That last bit is thanks to DNA repair enzymes which support and accelerate the body’s natural repair system, slowing formation of fine lines, wrinkles, sun spots, and discolorations. Make a beauty basket (I find great baskets at the dollar store) and get mom NEOVA Refining Eye Lift ($56) and DNA Total Repair ($99).

SLEEP – It’s such a simple task, and, yet, so hard for a mom to properly complete. Show mom love and giver her the time and the tools to recharge, so she can continue to hold down the fort! #MeaningfulMeMoments

Mothers Day Gift Guide - sleep

  • Remedy Heat Sensitive Memory Foam Sleep Mask w/ Music Input ($16.10 Overstock.com) – Even if the kids are being load, the hubby can hardly manage the situation and its daylight outside, this sleep mask has you covered it total darkness. Plus it has built-in headphones, so you can zen out to Buddhist nirvana sounds or Kurt Cobain Nirvana sounds.
  • Art Naturals Essential Oil Diffuser ($29.99, Overstock.com) – Mom can calm her nerves and set the mood for a good night’s sleep, with this beautiful ultrasonic oil diffuser. I love that it’s super quiet. Duuhh, I’m trying to sleep!
  • Alder Creek Lavender French Flower Bucket ($26.99, Overstock.com) – In the mood for a quick fix, nothing like a lavender scented basket. Useful. Peaceful. Done.

SANITY – Mom, by nature, is not sane. How can she be? Have you seen her to-do lists (yes, multiple lists, in multiple places in the office, kitchen, car, beg ….) Help her try to keep it together with organizational and inspirational essentials.

MD_sanity

  • Burlington Stores (Jewelry Box and Journal $4-$38) Motherhood can be maddening, and sometimes you just need to get your thoughts out there, journaling is great outlet. I found so many beautiful options at my favorite off-price retailer Burlington Stores. Keep walking those aisles and you’ll likely find other goodies like a jewelry box. Pop in a bracelet as a gift within a gift. Moms love surprises – at least this one does. Hint, hint, family.
  • Erin Condren Organization & Home Décor Items ($6-$75) – All hail the queen of organizational chicness. I have so many items from this brand, but the personalized schedule pad (which lives in my kitchen) if my life safer. Everyone knows what’s goes on, who needs to eat what, who’s traveling, who’s picking up kids, etc. I’m also in love with the Picture This! Acrylic Tray ($75) which is great to use a tray to hold my book and coffee if I’m going to read in bed. Not sure when that fantasy will happen … but I love to dream big.
  • Cooks 10-Cup Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker ($120) – So I’m not a coffee drinker (tea is my poison), but for those who bean it up, this machine is ideal for the mom who’s always getting pulled away from her warm cup. Thanks to a thermal carafe, mom’s cup stays hot for hours. Plus, she can program the coffee maker up to 24 hours in advance, so her cup is waiting for her at 7am, 6am, 5am (5am can not be managed without caffeine.)

Special thank you to Johanna Gomez, who beautifully filling in as host of Miami 6 in the Mix, while my friend Roxy Vargas is on maternity leave. FYI Johanna is a sassy mama of 3, who’a originally from New York. Check her out on Instagam.

Time to Shop for a Cause

I’m Thankful for Time, & Gifts that Give Back #Shop4Vasculitis

I’m Thankful for Time.

It’s pretty simple. I’m thankful for time.

I know the value of time. I know what matters, who matters, and where my valuable time should be spent to better me, my family and my community.

So, I’m taking some time, right now (while baby David sleeps and before the nanny comes allowing me to rush out and get props for tomorrow’s PIX11 Gifts That Give Back segment) to share with you where I’ve been allocating much of my precious time, over the past few weeks. Because, it hasn’t been here, with you, on this blog.

Aside from sick toddlers (never fun), getting sick myself (mom’s don’t get days off – bummer!), and the usual family/home needs, I’ve been knee-deep (sometimes drowning ) in planning a very important charity campaign .

The charity – The Ilya Peckerman Fund benefiting the Vasculitis Foundation’s Research Program to find the causes and cure of vasculitis diseases.

The campaign – Shop 4 Vasculitis.

What are vasculitis diseases?

Ya, I get that a lot. Vasculitis is a family of rare, autoimmune (aka the body is attacking itself) diseases that causes inflammation of the blood vessels, arteries, veins or capillaries. When such inflammation occurs, it causes changes in the walls of blood vessels, such as weakening and narrowing that can progress to the point of blood vessel blockage. Ya, it’s not fun.

Why do I care?

dad2

Well, because on December 18, 2009, my kick-ass, BBQ-ninja, fishing-fanatic, volleyball-champion, Barbie-shopping, always-recording-memories, never-complaining father passes away from Wegeners, a type of Vasculitis Disease.

Few words can explain what it means to lose a father, especially one that is so close to your spirit. We not only look alike, but share a similar child-like, whimsical approach to life. His physical departure felt like the rug was pulled from underneath me. In fact, not until my son was born and I realized that he has that same jovial spirit, did I feel grounded, once again, in the present world.

When tragedy strikes, we must morn, embrace our emotions, and figure out a way to live on. But, in moving on, we can also refocus our lives and allocate time to the people, the passion and the projects that make life worth living.

dad1

… which brings me back to the past few weeks, and my willingness to temporarily give up time with my family and friends in order to create Shop 4 Vasculitis.

With the holiday season approaching, I wanted to give you the opportunity to shop for a cause, i.e. vasculitis. As consumers, we have power to create change, gift from the heart and gift for good! Let’s shop for a cause with gifts that give back!!

With Thanksgiving kicking off, tomorrow, I’m so thankful for your time in reading this post.

I’ll be VERY thankful if you check out Shop4Vasculitis.com where you’ll find amazing holiday gift ideas from top fashion designers like Ramy Brook, cozy leggings from Yummie Tummie, beautiful jewelry from Laurel & Bleau, bags from 3 Lily Pads,  and much more.

I’m sending you a big THANK YOU and wishing you a fabulous holiday season.

Self Love Valentine’s Day Takeover & Gift Guide

Valentine’s Day is a joke. If you are properly loved by your significant other every single day of the year, then you should not put pressure on him to plan an elaborate “Valentine’s Day Date”. The results are usually tacky (flashing red flower roses anyone?) or overpriced meals (“special menu” alert). And, ladies, if February 14th is the only day you are putting on extra fancy, kinky lingerie, that’s also a relationship no-no. Keep it sexy and romantic all year long!

So, let’s refocus Valentine’s Day on the one person that probably doesn’t give you enough love, the one person that can be extremely harmful to your self-esteem, the one person that needs to constantly be reminded to be good to you. I’m talking about YOU!

Ladies, we are our own worst enemies. Let’s use Valentine’s Day as a day to recommit to Self Love, to harboring positive thoughts about yourselves, to acknowledging that you deserve to be loved, and to reinforcing that you should Always Be Your Best You.

Below is my Self Love Valentine’s Day Gift Guide full of beauty items for pampering, accessories for indulging and tea because that’s how I create Meaning Me Moments.

I’m wishing you an amazing, loving day. Find me on Twitter and Instagram and let me know how you plan to reignite Self Love this Valentine’s Day.

Gifts that Give Back – Easter Seals and ElyseRyan Jewelry

Every holiday season, I’m pitched countless “gifts that give back” ideas. Often times, I’m guilted into mentioning the item somewhere on social media and/or buying it and never actually gifting said item to anyone. That’s not the case with Easter Seals Gives Back Bracelets, which I discovered, last week, at the Accessories Council’s Holiday 2014 Top Picks.

Created by nationally-recognized jewelry designer Elise Rosenstock through her brand ElyseRyan, the slim, charm bangles are crafted by high school students and young adults with disabilities via Easter Seals’ School-to-Life Program. Students learn the skill of jewelry making under the tutelage of Elise and her team, who provide direction, feedback and a salary. This is a game changer and confidence builder for these amazing kids.

A second level of giving back was built into the program when the students decided they too wanted to help a cause, and collectively decided to support United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.

If you’re keeping track, here’s the goody-gum-drops run down: bracelets cost $35, students in the Easter Seals’ School-to-Life Program make a salary, and $10 is donated to United Way’s Women’s Leadership Council.

Easter Seals Gives Back Bracelets are expandable for larger wrists and squeezable for tiny wrists, like mine. The larger charm has a purse to represent women and the power of the purse to achieve change in communities around the world, while the smaller charm has a heart engraved with ‘GIVE BACK’. Bracelets are available in gold, rose gold, silver hematite, and two-tone. I purchased rose gold and hematite bracelets, and stylishly share the story behind my well accessorized look.

Unique Hostess Gift Ideas from UncoomonGoods

Can you believe Monday is Columbus Day? Before you can blink the holiday season will be upon us. In an effort to calm myself (not going to lie, I’ve had crazy anxiety over the past two weeks – and I’ll blame it on the baby because she’ll blame everything on me for the rest of my life!) I thought it would be wise to start thinking about hostess gifts. To quote my lovely sister “just have it ready!”  UncommonGoods is a great destinations for quirky gifts that always get the “where-did-you-get-that” comment.

P2 Home – hostess gifts from UncommonGoods.com

Rainbow Hors d’oeurves Set $44 — I already own this and it’s fabulous for fruits, cheese and non-drip appetizers. I’m stressing the obvious “non drip”, but I made that new housewives mistake two years ago.
Slate Cheese Boards with Soapstone Chalk $29  — Don’t you just hate when you don’t know what cheese you’re about to try? As a hostess, I also sometimes forget what I’ve places on the plate in my haste to prep and throw away all wrapping.
Footed Bowl $28 — With this bowl, everyone will forget you didn’t pick up the cake and are just serving fruits.
