Vital Proteins Coconut Collagen Latte HBO Divorce Mom Sunday Spa Night

Mom Sunday Spa Night: Collagen Latte, Sarah Jessica Parker & Divorce

Hey Mamas,

With the weather dipping to near 10°C, today, here in New York City, I wanted to share a cozy drink that will add extra warmth and pampering to your Mom Sunday Spa Night – a Collagen Latte.

Below is a recipe for my Coconut Collagen Latte.

Yup, it combines warm coffee with the wellness benefits of collagen.

  • improved skin tone and elasticity
  • stronger nails and hair
  • improvement in joint health
  • boost gut health

After you pop out of the shower, (and maybe also after read that last bed time story, because #momlife is mom life) prep a cup of this yummy and beauty boosting Collagen Latte, which is made with Vital Proteins’ new Collagen Creamer. FYI lactose-free mamas, you will appreciate this non-dairy and delicious creamer.

Make sure you have your cup in time for tonight’s Season 2 premier of HBO’s Divorce, starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, airing 10pm-10:30pmEST.

I had the pleasure of speaking with SJP, this week, thanks to an intimate gathering hosted by Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein of The Moms  (total #hustlelikeamom afternoon !!) and I was so impressed, as always, with Sarah Jessica Parker’s ability to make the person she was speaking to, feel like they were the most important person in the room.

That’s what she does in person, and what she does in her role as Frances on HBO’s Divorce. She speaks to you, she makes you want to understand her story, her decision to file for divorce, her emotional journey.

I’m adding DIVORCE to my Mom Sunday Spa Night because the show is truly a reminder to love yourself, listen to your gut, fight for your joy, and never forget that it was “just us two” i.e. husband and wife, before it was mom+dad+kids.

As one of the other guests at lunch pointed out, watching DIVOCE can actually save a marriage. Hmm….

“The idea of liberation is very different than the actual experience,” Sarah Jessica explained, at our lunch. As star and executive producer of Divorce, she added that, “We fight [to show] the unpleasantness of divorce and life because it’s fun to play it” and it makes the show more real.

“The more people are candid and decent when describing experiences, the better off we will be.”

And with that morsel of goodness, my decent and delicious collagen latte recipe.

Collagen Latte Ingredients

  • 1 Scoop Vital Proteins Collagen Creamer, Coconut
  • 6 oz cup of brewed coffee (I LOVE Cafe Bustelo)
  • 3 oz plus 1 oz milk or non-dairy milk (I use Almond unsweetened)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • Cinnamon or nutmeg, to taste

Collagen Latte Instructions

  1. Add coffee, 3 oz. of milk, coconut oil, and Collagen Creamer into a blender.
  2. Blend until creamy.
  3. Pour the remaining 1 oz. of milk into a mason jar. Screw on the lid and shake until froth. Or use a hand-held frother, if you have one at home.
  4. Microwave on high for about 30 seconds. This will harden the froth. (I don’t own a microwave so I skip this step)
  5. Spoon the froth over the latte, and sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg if using.

Mom Sunday Spa Night: First Aid Beauty Ginger & Turmeric Mask

Hey Mamas,

It’s the first Sunday of the new year, the first Mom Sunday Spa Night of 2018, and, for those who love a good awards show, tonight is also the 2018 Golden Globes.

So, I’m sharing one of my golden glow skincare secrets – turmeric mask, specially the First Aid Beauty HELLO FAB GINGER & TURMERIC VITAMIN C JELLY MASK.

Also know as the golden root, turmeric is an antioxidant powerhouse that fights free radicals – aka the damaging rays and other environmental stressers that attacks and try break down your skin cells. I say, “Heck no!” and “Hello Fab!”.

First Aid Beauty’s Ginger & Turmeric Mask goes on cool, which is super refreshing after a warm bath, and does not drip like some jelly masks. It’s also pretty clear, with a hint of orange, so I feel comfortable walking around the house in it.

I usually leave the mask on for about 20-30 minutes, then rinse off with super cold water – the colder the better for minimizing pores and keeping skin tight.

If you’re looking for a quick brightening boost before a big event, or another mask to add into your beauty repeater, consider this your fab new friend.

Below are some more beauty benefits of turmeric, in case you need extra convincing.

PS Mark my words, Turmeric will be the Matcha wellness and skincare buzz word of 2018! #YouHearditHereFirstMom Sunday Spa Night Turmeric Mask First Aid Beauty

Beauty Benefits of Turmeric Mask

Wellness Experts Share Best Health Bars, for Smarter Snacking

Hey Mamas,

Do you ever get lost in the health bar section at the grocery store? Do wonder if your power bar is a power fail?

For all you on-the-go, busy mamas, I’ve tapped into 5 wellness and fitness experts to find out what they look for in a good-quality, health bar. Happy snacking.

Tanya Zuckerbrot, MS, RD and founder of F-Factor

Her company recommends No Cow Bars to all their clients. This protein-packed bar is obviously #FFactoryApproved (google it – I’m OBSESSED and will share more about how F-Factor has changed my life and body for the better, in future posts!!) This bar has 20+ grams of dairy free protein, and only 1g of sugar. It’s also Dairy Free, Soy Free, Gluten Free, Vegan, Non-GMO.

Shannon A. Garvia, MDS, RD, LD with KISS in the Kitchen

My favorite on-the-go bars are Thunderbird Bars and RX Bars. I look for bars with real food ingredients (the fewer the better) and ideally are gluten and dairy free, for my own dietary restrictions. Her fav flavors include Cashew, Fig & Carrot from Thunderbird and we both agree that RX Bars’ Chocolate Sea Salt is a winner.

Jeannine Morris, Multimedia Beauty & Wellness Journalist

Being Vegan and Gluten Gree, I love Kind Bars. The dark chocolate, nuts and sea salt are my favorite flavors. Also, the Lara Bars Blueberry is delicious. I never know where I’ll be when I run into a situation where my dietary restrictions can’t be met, so it’s ideal to have healthy snacks like these on hand.

Bianca Jade aka Mizzfit, Fitness Expert, TV Host, Founder of Mizzfit Box

Rise bar is really simple. It’s a protein bar with 5 ingredients or less that’s non-GMO, gluten-free and soy-free. It doesn’t kill your appetite, but it cuts your craving pre and post workout.

Kristin McGee, Celeb Yoga + Pilates Instructor, Author of Chair Yoga & Wellness Expert

She really likes the quality and taste of Clean Eats Bar, which she’s discussing today on Mommy Moments with Pamela. Tune in 1pm EST for our live chat.

I haven’t used this brand long enough to vouch for it’s success, but I do know that all the core ingredients – coffee, coconut oil, and grapeseed extract and shea butter are cellulite beauty busters.

Here’s what I can already tell you about Editable Beauty Australia, it was developed by naturopath and nutritionist Anna Mitsios, who is passionate able not compromising on the ingredients that go into her “edible” collection of luxury skin and body care products. Ingredients are carefully curated from natural plant-based botanical and wildcraft, a term that is new to me.

Word of the night: Wildcrafting (also known as foraging) is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or ‘wild’ habitat, primarily for food or medicinal purposes.

And, at Edible Beauty Australia all products are completely free of: Synthetic Dyes, Parabens, Sulfates, Petrochemicals, Artificial Fragrances and Preservatives, Silicones, Propylene Glycol, Benzyl Alcohol, EDTA, Aluminium, Synthetic Dyes and Triclosan.

So, lather up you gorgeous mamas. Join me next Sunday for more Mom Sunday Spa Night suggestions. #MomSundaySpaNight
